Fate/Stay Night Game

  • 5th Feb, 2008 at 6:46 PM
Amaterasu
I am obsessed with this game... I watched the anime sometime ago, but have finally managed to get my hands on a copy of the game. After spending hours and hours trying to figure out how to install it and translate it into english I can honestly say it was easily worth the effort and stress. This is possibly the best game I have ever played, but I'm not finished yet so I shouldn't jump to any conclusions! Though by 'game', I really mean a visual novel with a few choices to make here and there. But I am in love with this game, it's story and it's characters. It's been a very long time since i've come home really excited about playing a game. Sadly, the whole game has not yet been translated. Only he main route of the game, called "Fate". However the second section, "Unlimited Blade Works", is nearly completion. It migh be quite some time though until the final section, "Heaven's Feel", is finished though. I'm just under half-way through the Fate scenario after playing about 13 hours and earlier this afternoon I worked my way through one of the... hottest... scenes ever. But don't get me wrong, those kind of scenes rarely appear. This, at it's core, is a story of action, adventure, magic, life and love. I love the history as well, seeing all these mythical heroes from the past battling each other is quite extraordinary. What's cooler than seeing a female King Arthur (or should I say Arturia? ;) ) fight off a berserk Hercules?

Finally, we have "Unlimited Blade Works" attack, both off which Servant Archer and Shirou are capable of. This is the coolest attack I have ever seen. It is started off by a chant, or a prayer, different for both of them.

Archer:
"I am the bone of my sword.
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood.
I have created over a thousand blades.
Unknown to death.
Nor known to life.
Have withstood pain to create many weapons.
Yet these hands will never hold anything.
So as I pray, 'Unlimited Blade Works'."

Shirou Emiya:
"I am the bone of my sword.
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood.
I have created over a thousand blades.
Unaware of loss.
Nor aware of gain.
Have withstood pain to create many weapons.
Waiting one's arrival.
I have no regrets, this is the only path.
My whole life was 'Unlimited Blade Works'."

That was really my only reason for updating today, but I have also bought a number of new good games lately (easily dwarfed by Fate/Stay Night though :P) which have been good to play and I also started watching D. Gray Man which seems pretty cool.

I bought one!! Omg! I really did! Well, temporarily really... There's a game called Eternal Sonata for it that I've been dying to play so I asked my manager if I could pay for the 360 and the game and return it for a refund wen I beat it. He said yes, so I bought it! Except I got more than just Eternal Sonata, I also got: Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, The Darkness, Kameo, Viva Pinata (which stinks), Dead or Alive 4 (not much good either) and Fable (haven't gotten it to work yet). I've had a go of all of them (cept Fable) and they're all great (cept DOA 4 and Viva Pinata)! Eternal Sonata is the best, but Gears of War is really excellent as well. I will end up returning it, but it's great i'm able to have a go of it like this!

I've decided i'm now going to update my Top 10 once in January and once in August; that should spread it out more and make it a bit more sensible. I'm also removing the books category because I haven't been reading much lately so there isn't a whole lot of point to it. I'm also going to remove movies for the time being as I really don't see that many new ones, and Star Wars takes up so many spots anyway. I'll probably bring it back in a future "Top 10". I know that sounds kinda funny, but seen i've watched so much anime this year I thought I should do an "Anime of the Year"! I was planning to do this at the end of last year, but hadn't watched enough series yet, so this years will include all the anime I have watched across 2006 and 2007. I have gotten into anime so much that it's crazy, but I love and now it's time to pick my favourite! The lists will only include anime that I have either seen all of or is currently ongoing. The manga list will include any manga I have read at least two volumes of.

Game of the Year 2007

It's been a big year for games this year. There has been a huge jump in graphical advances (particularly on the PC) to produce games such as Crysis, Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock. We've also seen the Wii begin to take off with some bigger name games such as Super Mario Galaxy. The Xbox 360 has continued strongly this year with the release of Assassin's Creed as well as Call of Duty 4. The PS3 has had the release of the new 40GB model, much to customers dismay, and sales have still not been doing very well. Although it has seen the release of a number of good games including Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4 and Lair. In handhelds, PSP has had a faily ordinary year, with few consoles sold. The DS on the other hand has been the most popular it has ever been; selling out like crazy and a huge number of new games released for it! In short, it's been a great year (which is why I've bought so many games!) and has set up 2008 to be the best year yet!

As a quick side note, I am only lisiting the games that I have bought and played this year in the nest second. There are still two or three games I bought this year that I haven't played yet, so they will not be in the running until next year!

Merry Chrstmas... a day late!

  • 26th Dec, 2007 at 9:06 AM
lloyd
Wel I was too busy to update yesterday, so Merry Christmas for yesterday! I did the usual family stuff yesterday; saw Dad's family in the morning and for lunch and then went over to my mum's family for afternoon tea and dinner. It was a really nice day actually, which is nice for me cause I'm not a bit Christmas fan aand as funny as this sounds I don't like getting presents very much. It makes me feel awkward or something. As for presents, I got some really good ones. I got five manga: Tsubasa Chronicles #14 and #15, Ouran High School Host Club #2, Hunter X Hunter #8, Negima! #4 and Hana-Kimi #1 as well as a Zelda t-shirt, a Jelly Bean dispensing machine (which is so cool), a pen holder, a travel guide to Japan, some artifacts from the bronze age, a visual history book from 1900-2005, a GBA game; Riviera The Promised Land and a Japanese Visual Novel Game; Ever 17. So I think I did rather well really!

And today I get a day off work for Boxing Day! Yay! It was funny last night though, I had sent Ryan a Merry Christmas SMS in the morning and he gave me a call at the end of the day wishing me a Merry Christmas, it was nice really. I'm thinking I should do a Christmas card for everyone at EB, but I'm not quite sure where I'd get them between today and 7.30am tomorrow. Oh well.

Oh yeah, I uploaded the photo's from Church Camp and EB Christmas Party, so you can go look at them in the gallery! There's some really good ones there for both, and a lot of really funny ones too. So that is about my Christmas, i'll update again soon with my Game of the Year stuff!

Chillax and Upcoming Christmas

Been a little while since i've updated, but it won't be a long one today anyway. A couple of weeks ago I went on my church camp: Chillax. It was a heap of fun and everyone got to know each other a lot better. I'll be putting up some photos soon too, so I'll explain a bit more about it then. I've been working a lot the last two weeks as well, at least I'm gonna get a fair bit of money from it all. We had our Area Manager come in the other day to work with us, he's a pretty good guy and he seems to like me which is a plus. This afternoon we're off to my Dad's side of the family Christmas get-together thing. It'll be pretty boring, but I've got no choice but to go. Oh well. A couple of nights ago we also had our EB Christmas party, we did the Mr. Men books again this year which was funny. Ryan and I were the only two staff members still there from last year, that's why we thought it'd be a good idea. I have photo's from that too, so i'll make sure to put them up next time.

Either later today or tomorrow i'll also be doing my Game of the Year selection so keep an eye out for that. I'm considering doing an anime one too... As for gaming, I finished Metroid Prime which was a great game and started Super Mario Galaxy which is just awesome. I also bought Diablo 2 yesterday, which is a bit dated but still a very good game. Oh yeah, I also beat Luminous Arc, I loved that game; just fun.

Last Day of School Tomorrow...

Last one for the year finally. Then i'll only have three terms + the HSC to go, thankfully. Then I can get out of school. I don't really feel like typing that much today but I thought I should update. I did start an Anime and Manga review site earlier this week, which can be found here. It's been a bit of fun to do and I got Sheffiie to do a guest review, hopefully Rob will get around to doing one too. I'm gonna head up to Hornsby shops after school tomorrow to buy WoW for Rob, well get him a discount, and return The Witcher (it was good, just too slow) as well as trade in some of those DS games so I can buy Super Mario Galaxy. Then I just gotta hand around for a few hours and try and find something to do until Mum can come pick me up. Well, I guess that's about it for today, except I have been watching a new anime 'Shakugan no Shana' which is really fantastic, I'll probably write a bit more about it next time, only five eps to go.

All my assessments are now finished for this term of school! Yay! And only a week and a half left... I'm home sick today, but i'm not really that bad. Just felt like bludging and staying home. Not very good of me, I know. School's just getting old... In other news, work was pretty fun yesterday. Tim is great to work with; we have a lot of fun and still manage to get everything done! I'll get to work with him more now he's Assistant Manager too. After a bit of a silly mistake that was made at work on Saturday I also came home with five free DS games! I got Nintendogs, Brain Training, Yoshi's Island, Worms: Open Warfare and Diddy Kong Racing. They're all worth keeping except Worms which is rubbish so i'll trade it in. I also bought Luminous Arc on DS which I'd had a go of on my lunch break one day and it was awesome. So I got a lot of DS stuff to keep my busy!

Finished Fate/Stay Night a few days ago and it's one of my fav series now. I wish there'd been a second season... oh well. Here's a link to my fav fight that I uploaded to Youtube here. Coolest attack ever, Unlimited Blade Works. I've started watcing one called 'Air' now. Seems good so far, but i'm barely into it. Well I think that'll do me for today, back to my DS! Oh, last thing. The single for the latest ending of Hayate the Combat Butler was released. I've been waiting ages for it. Here it is:

Hmm, I just had an idea, maybe I should keep a little record of my Brain Age down the bottom of my entry... haha, we'll see.

I think it's been out since the Tokyo Game Show this year, but I hadn't seen it. I'm so excited! More excited than if a new Zelda was coming, it's right up there with my anticipation for the next Longest Journey! I seriously can't wait for this game(assuming it gets an Aus release, cause a number of the Tales games never make it here)! Apparently it's going to be a Wii exclusive which is cool, but oh my gosh, I'm so excited! Here's the trailer:

Apparently the battle system will be similiar to that of Tales of the Abyss, and all the characters from Symphonia will return! Yay! Though it's pretty unlikely any of them will be playable. Lloyd does appear at the end of that trailer. That's cool though, the two new characters look pretty awesome. It's aslo interesting the female leads nead is Marta, very similiar to Martel. Time will tell if there's a link there! Emil looks cool too, but a very different lead from Lloyd. One more time... I CAN'T WAIT!

In other news... I managed to get all my work done yesterday and today so i'm happy about that. Off to church in about half an hour seen I had he day off work too!
